Expanded polypropylene

Expanded polypropylene (EPP) is a lightweight, closed-cell foam made from polypropylene, which is produced using a special expansion process.

DIN 6647-1

DIN 6647-1 describes cylindrical containers for beverages and raw materials with a permissible operating pressure of up to 0.3 MPa and a maximum nominal volume of up to 50 litres.

DIN 6647-2

DIN 6647-2 specifies the requirements for cylindrical beverage and primary containers with a permissible working pressure of up to 0.7 MPa and a maximum nominal volume of up to 50 litres.

What is a KEG? Definition and meaning

A KEG is a cylindrical container mainly used for storing and transporting beverages such as beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee and water.

KEG draft fitting

A KEG draft fitting (D-type) is a connector mainly used for beer.

KEG flat fitting

A KEG flat fitting (A-type) is a connector that is often used on beer KEGs.

KEG combination fitting

A KEG combination fitting (M-type) is a connector used for KEGs to connect to the dispensing system.

KEG basket fitting

A KEG basket fitting (S-type) is a device that is mounted on a KEG. It keeps the contents under pressure and allows the contents to be dispensed.

Polyurethane

Polyurethane (PU) is a versatile plastic produced by the chemical reaction between polyols and isocyanates.

Polypropylene

Polypropylene (PP) is a thermoplastic material produced by the polymerisation of propylene.

Fitting types

Fitting types refer to the various standardised connection types for KEGs used for dispensing and filling beverages.

Stainless steel bladder

The stainless steel bladder is the central element of a reusable KEG, which comes into direct contact with the bottled beverage.

Bottom ring

The bottom ring is a ring-shaped component at the bottom of a reusable KEG.

All-steel KEG

An all-steel KEG is a cylindrical reusable container made entirely of stainless steel – without any additional plastic components such as casings or head/foot rings.

PU coating

The PU coating is an outer shell made of polyurethane that completely or partially encases the stainless steel body of a reusable KEG.

PPWR
